Support Acadia Center
Donor support makes Acadia Center a more effective organization.
Acadia Center works to ensure that all contributions go as far as possible toward achieving goals for a clean energy future
Acadia Center’s work is funded through the generosity of individuals and foundations. We invite new donors to consider partnering in the effort to build clean, low carbon and consumer friendly economies. By supporting Acadia Center you form the core of a constituency that tells decision makers that Acadia Center is not only a group with bright ideas, but a family of informed and concerned voices that deserves attention.
Acadia Center bypasses national gridlock to reform the energy systems in our states, communities, and regions, proving that the country can tackle the challenge of reducing climate pollution by achieving a low-carbon, consumer friendly system that benefits all.
Acadia Center maintains one of the largest energy and economic databases in our field, enabling it to respond rapidly when inaccurate claims attack progress and to stop efforts to dismantle programs that analysis shows are effective.
Change begins with a vision. Acadia Center captures the power of a comprehensive, coordinated approach to a clean energy future and communicates that approach through visually-engaging and accessible materials.
For more than 10 years, Acadia Center has been ranked in the top 1% of charities on Charity Navigator, earning its highest 4-star rating for effectiveness in using revenue for program purposes. Donors can recommend grants to Acadia Center through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF).
A DAF provides donors with a centralized charitable giving vehicle. It allows philanthropically inclined individuals, families and corporations to make an irrevocable charitable gift to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program and take an immediate tax deduction. Most sponsoring organizations of DAFs accept cash equivalents, securities, and certain other assets. Donors then use their DAF to support qualified charitable organizations over time.
Main Advantages of a Donor Advised Fund
The DAF sponsor handles all record-keeping, disbursements, and tax receipts.
Contributions are tax-deductible and any investment growth in the DAF is tax-free. It is also easy to donate long-term appreciated securities, eliminating capital gains taxes and allowing you to support multiple charities from one block of stock.
Once approved, 100% of your recommended grant goes to your qualified public charity of choice.**
Timing of your tax deduction can be separate from your charitable decision making.
A DAF is a powerful way to build or continue a tradition of family philanthropy.
here is no cost to establish a donor advised fund. However, there are often minimum initial charitable contributions to establish the DAF (typically $5,000 or more).**
Donors may choose to remain anonymous to the grant recipient.
** Sponsoring organizations generally assess an administrative fee on the assets in a DAF. These fees vary by the charity that sponsors a DAF Program.
If you have a DAF with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable & Greater Kansas Community Foundation, you can make your recommendation through DAF Direct.
- Establish your Donor Advised Fund by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program
