Power Grid Coordination Accomplishments 2024

Acadia Center, with its Canadian partner Nergica, launched the Northeast Grid Planning Forum.
The Communities and Clean Grid Program empowers local voices by connecting city and town officials with the knowledge and tools they need to influence ISO New England's grid planning.
Acadia Center's long term transmission planning priorities were highlighted in the first RFP from NESCOE. These priorities include public engagement on siting and permitting, deployment of ATTs and GETs, HVDC and other technologies, and compatibility with future resource build-outs.
And regionally, efforts to improve transmission planning, like the recent analysis of new planning frameworks and public engagement, are pushing for smarter, stronger policies to power our clean energy future.

Acadia Center had another big year, delivering a number of impressive wins in states across the region. Acadia Center successfully advanced comprehensive change across all different realms.

State Accomplishments 2024

In Massachusetts, Acadia Center played a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive climate bill that will help wind down the natural gas system and continue to advance and implement the groundbreaking Future of Gas order
Acadia Center helped salvage progress on EVs in Maine after ACCII/ACT regulations were defeated
Acadia Center advanced utility reforms to the utilities in CT and ME. These efforts also yielded utility reforms in Connecticut, Maine, and Rhode Island that will help deliver needed change.

That’s why it's amplifying consumer voices and creating real opportunities for input. Across the Northeast, we’re driving change across 12 unique boards and committees this year. Together, Acadia Center is making sure decision-makers hear the voices that matter most—yours.

Committee and Stakeholder Accomplishments 2024

At the regional level, Acadia Center is shaping policy as a member of the Consumer Liaison Group for ISO-NE/NEPOOL, influencing key decisions and improving stakeholder access.
In Massachusetts, Acadia Center led the Beyond Gas coalition, the ACES coalition, and the EEAC executive committee, championing efficiency and equity.
Organized transportation and climate advocates, fostering collaboration and bold strategies for the future.
Acadia Center's state-based policy advocates, program, and analytical experts bring technical expertise to groups like the Future of Gas Stakeholder Committee, the RGGI Advocates Coalition, and Massachusetts’ Hydrogen Advisory Group, ensuring decarbonization benefits underserved communities.

Analysis to Benefit Everyone

Acadia Center has delivered groundbreaking insights that are shaping debates and driving equitable solutions for a cleaner energy future. We’ve published findings on energy efficiency, customer affordability, RGGI, and the clean energy future.

Research and Analysis Accomplishments in 2024

In RGGI Funds in Action, we provided insights on how RGGI, an important multi-state climate program, currently allocates multi-billions of dollars in clean energy and equity proceeds, while simultaneously offering data-driven recommendations to ensure equitable benefits for underserved communities.
Acadia Center partnered with WeAct to quantify how limiting the energy burden on consumers is possible, affordable, and necessary to advance energy equity for all.
With The Energy is About to Shift report, Acadia Center charted pathways to a community-centered, resilient, and decarbonized grid in New England.
