Policy
Senior Policy Advocate/Policy Advocate – Connecticut
The Senior Policy Advocate/Policy Advocate will have a leadership role in advancing Acadia Center’s efforts to promote and implement energy and climate policy reforms in the state and in regional forums. We work in a wide array of forums, including legislative, government agency, community, and public engagement and outreach, and we work with numerous partner organizations and coalitions. Preparing externally focused policy and educational materials, drafting legislative and regulatory filings, and working with media are important aspects of the position. Depending on the candidate’s experience and interest, the position can include work on regional (multi-state) initiatives. Policy priorities include climate and clean energy decarbonization pathways and implementation, improving the energy performance of buildings, particularly improving the energy performance of lower quality housing, phasing out fossil gas, community and public engagement, utility and regional power grid policy reform, and transportation climate. The position reports to the Vice-President, Climate and Clean Energy Policy. Acadia Center employs a team approach to its work, and the position will interact with program staff, including advocates and policy researchers, and provide critical content and coordination with communications and development staff.
Location: During the pandemic, Acadia Center offices are closed, and all work is remote. This position location is based in Hartford, Connecticut.
Salary Range: The range of compensation for a Policy Advocate is expected to be from $78,000 to $95,000, and Senior Policy Advocate, from $86,000 – $101,000 depending on life and work experience, knowledge of the field, and skillsets.

Grants Management
Grants and Relationships Manager
Acadia Center is seeking a Grants and Relationships Manager to play an integral role in advancing Acadia Center’s engagement with philanthropic foundations and partnerships. The position will work with a team that reports to the president to shape ideas into compelling materials and reports on work and activities. This position will support outreach to foundations, identify and work with diverse project partners (consumer, environmental justice, housing, community, and business voices), manage a grants calendar, and conduct research into prospective foundations. Acadia Center offers a creative, respectful, and supportive work environment and seeks to build strong, diverse partnerships and networks.
Location: During the pandemic, Acadia Center offices are closed, and all work is remote. Preference for proximity to Acadia Center office locations in Maine, Boston, Providence, or Hartford, CT.
Salary Range: $60,000 to $75,000
Internships and Fellowships
Howard Gray, Jr. Climate, Equity and Justice Internship
Acadia Center is seeking motivated undergraduate and graduate students to apply for its 2023 Howard Gray, Jr. Climate, Equity and Justice Internship. The Intern will work with Acadia Center staff – policy experts, researchers, attorneys, and communications professionals– on projects that directly impact the work of the organization. Interns may have the opportunity to meet with policymakers, attend state hearings and meetings, and work in coalition with other advocates.
Duration: The internship is expected to run full-time for 8-10 weeks in June, July and August and can be structured as full or flex time.
Location: The Intern position is fully remote, though there may be possibilities for in-person connections near Acadia Center staff locations in Rockport, ME; Boston, MA; Providence, RI; Hartford, CT and New York City.
Compensation: Acadia Center will provide a stipend of $4,000 – $5,000 (full-time level) depending on factors such as degree level and background experience and schedule. Applicants are encouraged to seek support from other school or work support programs such as those offered by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Intern.

Energy and Climate Data Analysis Internship
Acadia Center’s approach to policy includes a foundation in high quality data analysis and research. Our Climate, Energy and Equity Analysis team (CLEAN-E) provides a unique capacity to combine a wide range of data sources, complex technical research, and economic, health and consumer analysis into useful information for policy makers, the media, and the public.
Acadia Center is seeking motivated undergraduate and graduate students for a summer internship program. The Energy and Climate Data Analysis Intern will conduct data research and analysis projects under supervision of our CLEAN-E team on issues around climate, clean energy, and energy justice challenges. Candidates should be excited by opportunities to use data to inform public policy and enjoy exploring creative ways to communicate their findings to broad audiences. Depending on the projects, the Interns may have the opportunity to meet with policymakers, attend state hearings and meetings, and work in coalition.
Duration: The internship is expected to run full-time for 8-10 weeks in June, July and August and can be structured as full or flex time.

Acadia Center is seeking motivated law students to apply for its Roger E. Koontz Fellowship in Law and Climate Policy. The Koontz Fellow will work with Acadia Center staff – policy experts, researchers, attorneys, and communications professionals– on projects that directly impact the work of the organization. Depending on the work, the Fellow may have the opportunity to meet with policymakers, attend public meetings and engage in coalition interactions.
Duration: The fellowship is expected to run full-time for 8-10 weeks in June, July and August and can be structured as full or flex time.
