
Charles Hua
Charles Hua is the Founder and Executive Director of PowerLines, a new nonprofit organization aiming to modernize utility regulation to accelerate affordable, reliable, and clean energy for American consumers.
Previously, he served as a Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he helped develop strategies around grid modernization and clean energy, and as a Policy Analyst at Rewiring America, working to advance building electrification. He has also consulted for Fortune 500 companies, government labs, and international NGOs on climate and energy issues, including Airbus, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the Environmental Defense Fund.
Charles graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Mathematics and Statistics and a minor in Energy and Environment. Previously, he helped write Harvard’s new sustainability plan as an appointee to Harvard’s Presidential Committee on Sustainability, organized a panel on cleantech finance for the MIT Energy Conference, and launched a campaign that successfully petitioned my school district to become the then-largest in the U.S. to adopt a 100% renewable energy resolution.
For this work, he has been recognized by the White House as a U.S. Presidential Scholar, by the Aspen Institute as a Climate Leader, and by the Energy News Network as a 40 Under 40 honoree.
