Joy Yakie is Environmental Justice & Outreach Manager, based in the Boston office. Joy plays a central role in working to fulfill Acadia Center’s objectives to incorporate environmental justice values and goals in all organizational activities including research, policy development, and outreach with coalitions and community voices. Joy was previously Climate Justice Fellow with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and held prior positions in Michigan and with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. As a Climate Justice Fellow at EGLE, Joy supported the Climate Justice Braintrust to weave in justice and equity for the MI Healthy Climate Plan. She holds a B.Sc. from Lincoln University in Environmental Science and Biology and a Master of Science in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS), with specializations in Conservation Ecology and Environmental Justice.
