Mia Ambroiggio
Mia Ambroiggio is joining Acadia Center through the Yale School of the Environment’s Environmental Fellows Program, where she is pursuing a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) with a focus on People, Equity, and the Environment. She holds double B.A. degrees in Environmental Studies and Communication Studies from Loyola University Chicago, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. At Acadia Center, she is working to develop an accessible toolkit for municipalities and community groups to understand and advocate for Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in resiliency planning, with a specific focus on coastal communities. Additionally, she is researching the current landscape of Tribal governance and clean energy in the Northeast to fill knowledge gaps and support thoughtful, effective partnerships that advance resilience and clean energy solutions.
Prior to joining Acadia Center, Mia worked across government scales in Maine. She led communication and engagement efforts for South Portland’s Sustainability Office, served as a coastal resilience consultant with the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG), and supported statewide resilience programming through the Southern & Midcoast Resilience Coordinator Collaborative (SMRCC), part of the Governor’s Office of Policy, Innovation, and the Future’s Community Resilience Partnership. At Yale, Mia produces forest-centric news as a writer for the Forest School, manages Yale College students through the Sustainability Peer Education Program, and serves on the executive board of Out in the Woods (OITW), an affinity group for LGBTQIA+ students to build community and promote queer liberation in the environmental sector.
