Phyllis Theermann is the Head of Sustainable Wellesley’s Leadership Team, where she is responsible for the growth and direction of the organization, which has mobilized more than 40% of the community it serves to make impactful changes to protect the climate. Phyllis has gathered stakeholders and led projects focused on renewable energy, sustainable investing, gas leaks, and environmental justice. She also spearheads Sustainable Wellesley’s fundraising, marketing, and social media campaigns. Recent projects include conceptualizing branding and marketing for the Power to Choose renewable energy campaign (named 3rd top program in the country by the U.S. EPA); and leading marketing and communications efforts on the Town’s solar efficiency campaign (increasing the number of solar powered homes by 6X in less than a year). Prior to Sustainable Wellesley, Phyllis co-founded Yellow Pepper, one of the world’s first wireless marketing agencies, growing it into a multi-million-dollar company before selling it. She was responsible for marketing, communications, financial management, and business development. Earlier in her career, Phyllis held marketing and PR positions at Dow Jones (in Germany) and Microsoft, and was the Press Operations Coordinator for Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. She holds a BS in Mass Communications from Boston University and an MBA in International Marking from Northeastern University.
