Massachusetts’ Most Powerful Energy Affordability Tool: Energy Efficiency
As lawmakers debate energy affordability legislation, proposed cuts to Mass Save would undermine the very goal they’re trying to achieve. The $1B in proposed cuts to Mass Save, on top of the $500M in cuts already made to the 2025-2027 Mass Save Plan in early 2025, would result in a devastating loss in savings for ratepayers. The evidence is clear: energy efficiency is the most cost-effective energy resource Massachusetts has. The Mass Save program has delivered billions in energy savings to ratepayers, keeps electricity prices lower for everyone, and remains a proven grid reliability tool. Cuts to Mass Save don’t lower energy bills but rather raise them. Cutting efficiency investments increases bills, eliminates jobs, and leaves money on the table.
